We might send you for a CBCT to check the TMJ. TMD can also be associated with whiplash, trauma or parafunctional habits such as grinding. Dr Shamim is particularly familiar with TMD and the treatment options. One of the suggested treatment is day orthotic appliance to decompress the TMJ and reducing the inflammation, the symptoms commonly subside after using day appliance. We might suggest that the patient wear an orthotic appliance during the day and night for few weeks, but this will depend on the patient’s individual needs.
